Québec-city is one of the best places in Canada for scientific research, living and outdoor activities
Our laboratory is a part of the Axis of Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience and the Neurophotonics Centre located in the Centre de Recherche Université Laval Robert-Giffard (CRULRG). The CRULRG provides an excellent environment for Neuroscience research. The Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience Axis of the CRULRG has been rapidly growing, adding new research facilities (Neurophotonics Centre) and creating multidisciplinary research environment.
The research laboratories occupy two completely renovated floors of the CRULRG. The concentration of advanced imaging systems (e.g. CARS, multiphoton, fibre optics technology) promises to create a nourishing environment for imaging-minded grad students, postdocs, and faculty that should lead to much incisive discussion and creative interaction. Other excellent neuroscience groups (Systems Neuroscience, Psychiatric Genetics) are also on campus, providing exceptional opportunities for collaborations.
The Neurophotonics Centre hosts a Summer Imaging School “Frontiers in Neurophotonics”, which regularly brings the top scientists in the fields to the campus, offering excellent opportunities for interaction.
The CRULRG campus itself is situated in Québec-city, a place of unequalled historical and cultural heritage interest, with its architecture, pedestrian streets and fortifications, unique in North America. The Plains of Abraham and Vieux-Québec (Old Québec) represent a UNESCO World Heritage travel destination with almost 400 years of history.
Moreover, multiple festivals take place year-round: Festival Arts et Reflets, Festival Blues, Festival des couleurs, and Festival de l’oie des neiges (Snow Goose Festival). Many outdoor activities are available: golf, downhill and cross-country skiing, fishing and hunting, slides, nautical sports, river rafting and canoeing excursions, nature and wildlife observation, snowmobile and hiking expeditions.
